At least six people, including Delhi Aam Aadmi Party MLA Anil Jha and Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Abhay Patil, were injured after a hatchback crossed a road divider and crashed into an SUV near the PWD headquarters on Vikas Marg near ITO in central Delhi on Sunday night, police said.
Their condition was reported to be stable. The two MLAs were travelling in the SUV when the crash occurred. They are in stable condition. A police team reached the spot and found two damaged vehicles, both bearing Delhi registration numbers.
Deputy commissioner of police (central) Rohit Ranbir Singh said the IP Estate police station received a call about the road crash at around 9.30pm.
All those injured sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital, police said. “As per the preliminary inquiry, the hatchback was being driven by a 32-year-old resident of Delhi’s Arya Nagar, who was travelling towards ITO from Laxmi Nagar along with his wife and two minor children,” said Singh. Police said all six people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and were shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment.
