A 27-year-old man was allegedly abducted at gunpoint and brutally assaulted by a group of men while he was returning home with three children in his camper vehicle in Jaisalmer district on Thursday evening, police said.
“Rajgarh resident Jamal Khan, son of Farid Khan, was returning home from Bhainsda with three children when two vehicles followed him and forced him to stop. The incident came to light when some villagers passing through the area heard cries for help. Suspecting something was wrong, they followed the attackers’ vehicles. Villagers informed the police and took the injured man to Sankra hospital. Doctors at Pokaran subsequently referred him to Jodhpur for further treatment. “The preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may be linked to an old rivalry . Police teams are conducting raids at possible locations to arrest the accused.
After receiving preliminary treatment, Jamal was referred to Pokaran due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Sankra SHO Ran Singh Sodha while confirming the development said that the incident took place around 7pm near the Rajgarh-Khelana border area. Police said the accused, fearing that they were being surrounded, allegedly dumped Jamal in an injured condition by the roadside and fled. Further investigation is underway,” he said.
