The Divisional Railway Manager of the Ahmedabad and the Eastern Railway have confirmed that the train services of the Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express will begin on August 26, 2026. The Amrit Bharat Express is a non-AC train, equipped for long-distance journeys with sleeper and general coaches. The train runs one day per week on both routes. The Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur train will depart every Wednesday at 6.30 pm and reach the following day at 06.40 am . On the other hand, the Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad train will depart every Friday at 4.45 pm and arrive at Ahmedabad at 05.25 the following day. The Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur route is scheduled to take 36 hours and 10 minutes, while the reverse route will take 36 hours and 40 minutes.
Coach composition
This Amrit Bharat train will have twenty-two coaches in total, with 11 sleeper class and 9 general second class coaches. Passengers can book their train tickets for train 19423 on the IRCTC website and at all Passenger Reservation System counters of the Indian Railways, starting August 21, 2026. It will also have one pantry coach and two ‘LSLRD’ coaches for luggage and the rake controller, and a dedicated section for Divyangjan coach for passengers with disabilities. Amrit Bharat Express focuses on mass mobility, while Vande Bharat trains focus on a premium passenger experience. The key difference is that Amrit Bharat trains are not air-conditioned, while all Vande Bharat trains are fully air-conditioned. The Vande Bharat Express is made for faster intercity journeys, with chair car seating, modern amenities, and quicker acceleration.
