The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (August 18, 2026) announced the poll in-charges for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat for the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections.
BJP MP and national general secretary Vinod Tawde has been appointed as the poll in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, while party’s national general secretary and MP Satish Poonia, and MP Tarun Chug will lead the election in Punjab and Gujarat respectively. In addition, BJP national secretary Satish was selected as the co-incharge for the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh.
This announcement came a day after the party unveiled its national organisational team which marked notable changes in the structural level. Dr Satish Poonia has been appointed BJP in-charge for Punjab, while Tarun Chugh will take charge as the party’s in-charge for Gujarat.
BJP informed that the appointments made by the party’s national president, Nitin Nabin, will come into effect immediately. ”The appointment of other State in-charges will be made in due course,” the party added.
