The parliamentary standing committee on railways has recommended that the Railways undertake a comprehensive study of successful high-speed rail networks in countries where such systems operate efficiently.
Outlook and Forecast
The revised estimate is under sanction. On the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project, the committee noted that its cost has increased from the ₹97,636 crore at which it was approved in 2015, mainly due to taxes and cess, rolling stock and signalling, inflation, and higher land acquisition and rehabilitation costs.
