Rating: ★★★

As A Chou settles into the household, her kindness begins to win people over. She even finds a rare medicine to treat the facial scar on her maid, Bitao (Pan Junya), that Jun Dai inflicted in the first episode. Lu Zhuo, meanwhile, begins to notice that his new wife is nothing like the cruel woman he remembers. his growing affection for A Chou gradually changes their relationship Although his doubts linger. Lady Li (Mao Linlin) refuses to believe that A Chou is her daughter, while A Chou’s adoptive mother begs her not to hurt her biological children. The betrayal that hurts most comes from Bitao, whom A Chou has treated with genuine affection. Director Yang Long keeps the story engaging by weaving A Chou’s personal struggles into the larger mystery surrounding her identity. Trouble follows her at almost every turn, leaving her with little time to let her guard down. Lu Zhou’s manor looks grand and imposing, but behind its elegant walls are people who hide secrets and are willing to go to great lengths to protect their own interests. Jealousy, greed and the fight for power make the household just as dangerous as it is lavish. The drama moves quickly, especially in its opening episodes, making it easy to get drawn into A Chou’s struggles. Tian Xiwei is the standout performer in the series, playing A Chou and Wei Rao, also known as Jun Dai, with two very different personalities. A Chou is kind, quick-witted and resourceful, doing whatever it takes to survive, while Wei Rao is selfish, ruthless and determined to hold on to her position at any cost. Xiwei brings out these differences well, making it easy to see how two characters who look alike can be so different in their actions and intentions.
