A political outfit, the ‘Lal Hit Janta Party’, organised a march from Rajghat to Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday, with around 200 protesters chanting the slogan, “ Modi ji kahin nahi ja rahe bro !”
The march aimed to convey the party’s message of “Rashtra Pratham” (Nation First), support for the country’s development agenda and commitment to the Constitution and democratic values, the statement said.
Gyanesh Kumar will go to jail. I am telling you, Narendra Modi can’t go anywhere. We will not allow him to go. After Gyanesh Kumar, we will face you. There will be legal proceedings against Modi and Amit Shah.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that Rahul Gandhi had claimed that 10 lakh people would participate in the rally against it, but only a handful showed up. “You can see in the background that 40 per cent of the Ramlila Maidan, 40 per cent of the space, was vacant. Rahul Gandhi and his team claimed that 10 lakh people would attend. Out of 28,000 chairs, around 5,000-7,000 were empty at 3:30-4 pm. This is the reality behind Congress’s claim of 10 lakh attendees,” Patra said. Earlier reporting noted: The Opposition programme included a march from the edge of Connaught Place to Ramlila Maidan, a route of 1.3km touching Minto Road and Kamla Market. It began at around 12.45 pm as leaders from more than 19 parties — Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah – boarded open-top buses commissioned from Rajasthan. For about 1.5 hours, the convoy of vehicles, flanked by thousands of supporters and political workers, drove around central Delhi before reaching Ramlila Maidan at 2.30pm.
The march was led by Ayan Bhatnagar, founder and convener of the ‘Lal Hit Janta Party’, according to a PTI report. Participants carried banners, posters and placards expressing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the outfit said in a statement. Speaking at the rally, the leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, said, “I am telling every citizen and every youth of India: Gyanesh Kumar will be removed from the post of Chief Election Commissioner. Amit Shah had said that Modi will not go anywhere. The country will get justice,” Gandhi told the audience at Ramlila Maidan , one of the three new designated protest sites in the Capital.
Earlier reporting noted: After headlining a march that snaked through central Delhi for more than an hour and a rally attended by thousands of people, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also trained his guns at the government, saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah will not be allowed to escape the law. Earlier reporting noted: “The first step to bring the country back on track is to remove Gyanesh Kumar.
It also highlighted the outfit’s political opposition to the Congress, with participants raising concerns over what it described as the political narrative surrounding the Prime Minister and the country’s development.
