Karnataka FDA uncovers violations at several ice cream units —: A practical reader guide

Expired food products were seized from two ice cream manufacturing units in Bengaluru, while inspections at facilities in Raichur and Mysuru uncovered unhygienic conditions and labelling violations, during a statewide food safety drive that covered 45 units, the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) said on Friday.

The FDA collected 70 samples of ice cream, milk, milk powder, flavouring substances, sugar, food additives and other raw materials for laboratory testing.

The department said the tests would assess whether the products met prescribed food safety standards.

The department has not yet reported the results of these tests.
