The Indian Space Research Organisation ( ISRO ) launched its state-of-the-art imaging satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota , Andhra Pradesh at 2:55am IST on Friday, September 4.

ISRO’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-17) is taking the Earth observation spacecraft, named EOS-05, to be launched into the Geosynchronous orbit – the first of its kind in India, PIT reported. The 51.7 metre tall GSLV 17 rocket lifted off from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center in 15 seconds.
The journey of the GSLV-17 carrying the EOS-05 is being closely watched as it is the organization second attempt this year after a PSLV-C62 rocket carrying 16 satellites failed to reach the intended orbit due to an “anomaly.
ISRO said that the GSLV-F17 is the 19th flight of India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV).
