The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (September 5, 2026) attacked the Congress over the representation of women in its State governments, alleging “hypocrisy” on the issue of women’s empowerment.
In Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, there were no women Ministers, while Kerala had two and Telangana had two, one of whom had been removed. Mr. Mr. Trivedi cited the Narendra Modi government’s initiatives for women, including Jan Dhan accounts, Ujjwala LPG connection scheme, toilet construction and permanent commissions for women in the armed forces, as examples showing the government’s focus on women empowerment.
