The MPs offered the money and coins to the deity and obtained a receipt for the donation. Akshay Yadav, the SP MP from Firozabad, said the donation box was originally brought to the Parliament complex as a symbol of protest against the alleged theft of contributions made for the Ram temple. “People have faith, so they started putting donations into it when they saw it,” he said. “BJP members kept trying to conceal this issue; the theft was exposed only after Samajwadi Party national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav brought the matter to light,” she remarked.
