Punjab Police on Saturday (September 12, 2026) said that fugitive criminal Amritpal Singh alias Amrit Dalam, a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, has been extradited from the Republic of Moldova with the assistance of central agencies.
Mr. Dalam is wanted in multiple cases of murder, attempt to murder, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Arms Act and Narcotic offences, among others. “I commend AGTF and OFTEC for their relentless efforts.
“This is the first-ever extradition secured by Punjab Police from a European country, marking a significant milestone in our fight against organised crime,” said Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yaday, asserting that the extradition was a breakthrough against transnational organised crime. “The success of Operation Eastern Reach, a six-month intelligence-led international manhunt, was made possible through sustained surveillance and close coordination of Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell with central agencies and international partners,” he added. We thank the Moldovan authorities, Azerbaijan Authorities, International Police Cooperation Unit and Central Bureau of Investigation, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs and all other central agencies as part of this international cooperation,” he said.
