The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, has secured the extradition of an Interpol Red Notice subject wanted by the Delhi Police.
He is wanted in connection with a sexual assault case. A chargesheet was filed, after which the Delhi Police had a Red Notice issued against the accused through the CBI. He was tracked to the UAE, and legal proceedings were initiated against him there.
The accused, Sajeer Palli Mooppam, was brought to India from the United Arab Emirates by an escort team of the Delhi Police on Wednesday (November 4, 2026).
Taking advantage of her helpless state, the accused transported her to a hotel, fraudulently checking in using third-party identity credentials to evade detection. “The accused, along with an accomplice, forcibly administered an intoxicant to a 20-year-old woman, rendering her incapacitated.
He subjected the victim to non-consensual sexual assault, which was corroborated by subsequent medical and forensic reports,” the agency said.
