At least eight people from the same family have lost their lives following a shooting incident at their residence in Montana . Several family members were left confined within the house after the suspect ignited a fire, allowing it to be consumed entirely by flames.
A fundraiser was initiated for Adam Ghekiere, an airport rescue firefighter, whose wife, children, and other family members lost their lives in the tragic incident. The police have identified all the victims; however, their names were not disclosed right away, with the exception of two children who were named through a GoFundMe campaign established for the family. Ghekiere and Erica Jarussi Schneider are the parents of two children and were not present at their residence during the incident, as per the Daily Mail.
A 911 call was received reporting an active shooting incident at a residence in Billings, Montana, shortly after 6 PM on Sunday, during which gunfire was audible on the call, as stated by Yellowstone County Sheriff Kent O’Donnell.
The children’s stepfather, Danny, was also absent from the scene, according to the outlet.
Officials stated that the cause of the fire was not immediately evident, and the investigation is still in progress.
