Accusing the Bihar government of using excessive force against protesting students, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday (September 3, 2026) warned the BJP that any regime that suppresses the voice of the youth will eventually have to answer to the people.

Gandhi made his remarks after meeting students and young people from Bihar who, he said, had faced “horrific police brutality” while demanding fair opportunities, a transparent examination system, and their rights. “Police lathis as well as gunfire from AK-47s and pistols left many students injured,” Mr. Gandhi said in a post on X. He claimed that a young man aspiring to join the Army had suffered a leg injury from an AK-47 bullet, shattering his “life-long dream” of serving the country. Gandhi said the government could not absolve itself of responsibility by blaming “a few low-ranking officials”. The police action, he said, was either the result of orders from above or a sign of the “utter failure” of the administration. I am ready to provide them with every possible assistance,” he said. In a post on X, he said she was being targeted for raising her voice for the rights of her community and students. Gandhi referring to her struggle said,“Your fight is not alone. We won’t stop until justice is served,” he said, accusing the Delhi Police of “inhuman brutality” against students.
