Absconding Delhi PG owner Hariram Gupta was held in Rajasthan on Monday, a day after a decades-old multi-storey building collapsed in the Satya Niketan area, killing at least seven people and injuring several others.

She also announced that the building next to the collapsed structure would be demolished. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the area to assess the ongoing search and rescue operation.

“Strict action will be taken against MCD officials found responsible. Officials said 12 people have so far been rescued from the debris, including seven who died in the incident. “Approximately 80 per cent of the debris has been cleared, with only the basement debris remaining. She said 11 people had been rescued so far and assured that those responsible for the collapse would face action.

Some kind of excavation was being carried out in the basement, due to which a pillar shifted and the entire building collapsed,” Gupta said.
