A contractual employee of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and his friend were killed after a speeding car hit their motorcycle from behind near Lalji Hospital in Sector 12 of Haryana’s Gurugram, police said on Friday.
The accused driver of the speeding car was apprehended by the bystanders who then handed him over to the police, news agency PTI reported. Rohit, originally from Rewari district in Haryana, worked as a contractual data entry operator with the ED zonal office for two years, while Abhishek, from Haryana’s Bhiwani district worked with a local property dealer. The two friends lived in was accommodations in Gurugram’s Mianwali Colony, police was quoted as saying. The driver is on the run and has yet to be arrested. The driver then fled the scene. With the help of locals, police identified the driver and the vehicle.
The duo were heading towards Old Railway Road around 1:00 am on Friday when a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle. The incident occurred around 7:30pm as the victim was playing with other children at an empty plot next to her residence in the service lane, near Ambedkar Chowk, when a vehicle, identified as a Mahindra XEV-9e, backed into her, said police, according to police. On a complaint by the victim’s father, an FIR was registered against the driver under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector-50 police station on Wednesday.
