A city-based neurosurgeon has been booked for allegedly manhandling an ambulance driver and removing the vehicle’s keys following a glancing collision between the ambulance and his Audi Q7 near a private hospital.
The accused has been identified as Dr Harman Sobti. He alleged that a private hospital located near his hospital was behind the complaint. “The incident did happen, but they exaggerated it and filed a false complaint against me.
The Division Number 8 police have registered the case on the complaint of ambulance driver Arshdeep Singh of Muktsar. The police have booked Dr Sobti under Sections 125 (rash or negligent acts endangering human life or personal safety), 126 (wrongful restraint), 281 (rash or negligent driving), 285 (causing danger, obstruction or injury to people in a public street or road), 304 (snatching) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, besides Section 194 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Dr Sobti denied the allegations and termed the FIR “baseless”. I will legally proceed against it,” he said.
ASI Balwinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said appropriate action would be taken after the investigation.
