A case from Punjab has sent shockwaves across the region after police said on Saturday that a BSF jawan was arrested for allegedly killing his wife.
A case has been registered against the accused on the complaint of the victim’s father. Police had later accompanied the accused to his residence, where the victim’s body was found lying on the bed. The accused, a 24-year-old delivery executive, had confessed to a friend seeking help in disposing of the body, PTI had reported, according to the police. The couple had married in 2023, and the victim, 20, was a homemaker.
Later, Hajipur Police Station SHO Inspector Harprem Singh said Amarjit Singh was arrested.
In a separate incident, earlier, a man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife at their rented place in Delhi.
The accused has been identified as Amarjit Singh, a resident of Shekhamatta village, and his wife, the victim, as Rama, news agency PTI reported. The couple had been married for around 12 years. Around 4 am on the intervening night of August 13 and 14, Ram Chand, the victim’s father, was informed that the accused had called to say that Rama had fallen from the roof and was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Hajipur.
