Cami Clark, the wife of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, has drawn fresh attention after emails in the Jeffrey Epstein files showed she approached the disgraced financier about funding a porn business venture more than a decade ago.
WSJ reported that Clark later helped bring Schmidt into Amodei’s orbit, with Schmidt becoming an early investor in Anthropic. Clark has largely stayed out of the public eye despite her close ties to some of Silicon Valley’s most influential figures. But a new investigation by The Wall Street Journal has detailed her unusual career, her relationship with Amodei and her behind-the-scenes influence around Anthropic. Before her relationship with Amodei, Clark dated former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
Clark is an entrepreneur who married Amodei in 2022. She met him in 2014, when he was working as a researcher, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Wall Street Journal reported that little information about Clark is available online and that efforts have been made to remove references to her from the internet. Yet she has maintained a remarkably low profile. His company went on to develop Claude, one of the leading competitors in the generative AI market.
Clark met Epstein in 2011 through literary agent John Brockman, according to emails from the Epstein files reviewed by the Journal and Forbes. Amodei had previously worked at OpenAI before leaving with other researchers and co-founding Anthropic in 2021.
