A day after expelling former health minister Anant Kumar Mishra ‘Antu’ from the party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati launched a damage-control exercise on Friday to win over the Brahmin community.
“As a loyal soldier of the party, he was involved in expanding the party’s base and assisting BSP workers. To counter their allegation, Mayawati, in a post on X, said, “Leaders from the Brahmin and other communities, who have been expelled or have left to join other parties due to their personal interests or have joined the ruling party to escape accountability for their misdeeds, their commitment to the party has remained highly questionable and disappointing in the eyes of the people.
The BSP chief said she wants to assure the Brahmin community that they should remain strongly connected with the party. “They will be given adequate tickets in the 2027 assembly election and will also be given positions in the government after the BSP comes to power, as was done after the 2007 assembly election when the party formed a majority government,” she said in a post on X.
