Three people arrested for allegedly forcing a teenage boy, his father and the boy’s friend to walk naked through a south Kolkata locality, were taken through the area shirtless and in shorts by police on Tuesday as part of a crime scene reconstruction.
Police arrest three, detain girl’s mother
Police said they were investigating the allegations, including the reported use of a firearm. Police have arrested the girl’s father, elder brother and maternal uncle in connection with the case, while her mother has been detained. The matter came to light after footage allegedly showing the teenager, his father and his friend being paraded naked surfaced online. Following the video’s circulation, an angry crowd allegedly tried to vandalise the girl’s house, prompting police to reach the scene and restore order. The girl’s maternal uncle was caught by local residents and handed over to the police. Further details of the investigation are awaited.
The arrest comes after a teenage boy, his father and the boy’s friend were allegedly assaulted and forced to walk naked through a locality in south Kolkata by the girl’s family after the 17-year-old was caught kissing his girlfriend. The accused, the 13-year-old girl’s father, uncle and elder brother, were also made to walk barefoot, with ropes tied around their waists, a police official told news agency PTI.
Some members of the girl’s family had left the area before officers arrived, according to a police officer. The incident took place on Sunday evening within the limits of Sarsuna Police Station.
