Two people have died, while at least six others are feared trapped under the debris after a landslide in Mumbai’s Kurla area in wee hours of Wednesday following heavy rain, officials said.

Police said the rescue operation are underway with personnel from BMC, NDRF and other agencies deployed at the spot. The incident took place at around 3 am, DCP Ganesh Shinde said, adding that around four to five people are feared trapped.
“Due to the rain, a landslide has occurred in the Ashoknagar area under the jurisdiction of the Ghatkopar police. Two bodies have been recovered so far, and rescue operation is underway. Police personnel are deployed here, along with all the necessary teams for the rescue operation—including officials from the BMC, NDRF, and other agencies. It happened around 3 AM. Around 4–5 people are likely trapped,” Shinde told news agency ANI.
Officials said that two people have suffered injuries in the incident so far and have been identified as Sohel Ansari, 18, and Mohamad Ansari, 14. Both have been taken to a hospital for treatment where they are said to be in a stable condition.
The two deceased have been identified as Sahil Ansari, 28, and Mohamad Samir, 14, who were declared brought dead at Rajawadi Hospital.
