A portion of Noida’s elevated road has caved in for the second time in just over a month, with the latest incident reported near Sector 33, prompting the Noida Authority to shut the carriageway from Mamura towards Sectors 18 and 29 and divert traffic to Maharaja Agrasen Marg.
The traffic police and the authority initially placed barricades around the damaged portion while traffic movement continued. The authority has started the repair work. We are probing to ascertain the reason for this cave in and if this is linked to the previous incident.”
Officials said the damaged stretch is being repaired and the authority is probing whether the latest incident is linked to the cave-in reported on September 15. However, the damaged portion widened further on Wednesday, following which the entire carriageway from Sector 61 to Sector 18 was blocked by placing barricades at the entry.
Additional CEO of the Noida Authority Vandana Tripathi said, “The traffic movement has been diverted for safety till the restoration works are complete. A 2×2-foot portion of the road had caved in, when a passer-by informed the Noida Authority officials on Monday at 11am.
