All mail, express trains arriving at New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin: A practical reader guide

Mail and express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10 will be cancelled at their originating stations in view of anticipated severe traffic congestion in the areas surrounding the stations, according to people familiar with the matter.

The move comes ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar against chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar , who is accused of vote theft at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is expected to draw a huge turnout. In a letter dated October 8, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Transport Range, said metro train frequency at the identified stations may also be reduced, citing the likelihood of unruly crowd movement towards sensitive locations, HT earlier reported. The restrictions have been proposed from 9 pm on October 9 and may continue through October 10 until the situation normalises.

“Severe congestion is expected in Delhi, leading to major disruptions due to blocked roads.

To avoid passenger inconvenience, the Railways has taken this tough decision,” sources said.
