Prolonged delays in road restoration across several parts of Mohali have created an increasing traffic and road-safety issues. Dug-up and uneven stretches leave less roadspace for vehicles and hamper daily movement.
Potholes, damaged surfaces, poor drainage and waterlogging during the monsoon have added to the persisting issue. Vehicles are often forced to slow down, change lanes or squeeze through narrower portions, resulting in traffic congestion and increasing the risk of skidding and minor accidents. The damaged stretch creates difficulties for patients, particularly the elderly and those requiring urgent care. During rainfall, waterlogging further reduces visibility of potholes and uneven portions, making the route hazardous. The road conditions have also raised concerns over whether adequate safety arrangements and clear traffic management measures are being ensured while work remains incomplete. With restricted road space, even routine movement through these areas can lead to bottlenecks, particularly during busy hours.
