A 20-year-old student from Wright State University tragically ended his life on Interstate 70, reportedly due to distress over a mandatory ICE ankle monitor, as stated by local community advocates.
He died by suicide, according to his family.
Bel was a member of the varsity soccer team for the Springfield City School District, from which he graduated in May. He was also part of the National Honor Society and participated in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. Troopers received a call at 8:45 a.m. regarding an incident at mile marker 66 on I-70 westbound, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield Post. Upon arrival, OSHP discovered that Bel had parked his 2006 Toyota Avalon on the right shoulder, exited the vehicle, and walked into the westbound traffic lanes, as stated in a release.
“I wish President Trump could hear the mom’s wails. The family wants people to know that this was a suicide and they want people to know that President trump, (Stephen) Miller, and Markwayne Mullin’s inhumane immigration policies made this happen,” Ruby stated in the post.
