A fire was reported in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood on August 24, Monday. The fire broke out a little before 8pm at a home near Bellevue Avenue East and East Republican Street.
No injuries reported. Some social media reports claimed there were two fires on Capitol Hill but this could not be independently verified. The Seattle Fire Department has not yet commented on the alleged second fire. They shared updates on the first blaze sharing posts on X. Additional crews are working to protect another residence behind the home on fire. Crews put water on the basement fire. They also added “basement fire has been knocked down. Firefighters are reentering the first floor to extinguish hot spots and check for extension in the attic. Primary and secondary searches of the building are complete. They later noted that the fire was under control and had been extinguished. Incident is under investigation. A unit will remain on scene for fire watch,” the fire department shared . Photos from the fire in Seattle were shared online. Another person also shared a video of the fire and commented “Hopefully everybody involved is ok! Police officers didn’t let anyone get near. They could be heard in the clip that they heard multiple fire trucks go by.
“400 block of E Republican St: crews on scene report flames visible on the first floor of the home. The incident was in the basement of a one-story home and residents were evacuated due to precaution. As a result, crews on the first floor are evacuating as a safety precaution.
Correction, this is a one-story home with a basement,” they wrote, adding “firefighters put water on the fire. The Seattle Fire Department further said “firefighters found fire in the basement. “Seattle Fire battles Monday night triplex fire on Capitol Hill,” one wrote.
