The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a march in Delhi on September 5, over the Centre’s alleged failure to honour the promises made during the July agitation.
“The Government must honour its word. Our patience must not be mistaken for weakness,” it added. In a statement posted on X, the CJP condemned the Union Government’s failure to honour the commitments made to India’s youth on July 25, particularly those concerning the withdrawal of FIRs against students and protesters. Earlier reporting noted: The issue came up before the Supreme Court on August 18, when the court asked the Union government three separate times to provide a consolidated list of FIRs registered against students and protesters across the country. “With the Government continuing to delay and avoid fulfilling its assurances, the CJP National Working Committee has decided to resume peaceful mobilisation,” it said in the statement. Earlier reporting noted: The party said the government delegation that held talks with the CJP has not formally communicated the steps being taken to fulfil these commitments. It has warned that any attempt to “dilute, delay, reinterpret or dishonour” the assurances would amount to “vishwasghaat” (betrayal) of the country’s youth.
