Kasaragod , Two persons were arrested on Sunday for allegedly honey-trapping a businessman and extorting money from him at Kubanoor here, police said.

Kumbla police arrested Kubanoor native Hasan Asif and his relative Muhammad Siraj , a native of Mogral. The incident took place on August 16 when the 64-year-old complainant, a resident of Muttam Bangara in Mangalpady village, was invited by a woman, Riswana, to her house in Kubanoor on the pretext of returning ₹ 5,000 she had borrowed from him, according to police. Upon his arrival at around 7.30 pm, Asif, allegedly acting in collusion with Riswana, forcibly took him to a bedroom, police said. The accused allegedly threatened the complainant, obtained his ATM PINs and withdrew ₹ 7,200 from his account, police said. Police said Asif allegedly demanded ₹ 20 lakh, threatening to circulate the photographs and videos on social media.

Police said they were probing the role of Riswana, who is being questioned as part of the investigation. The complainant reported the matter to police on Saturday, citing delays caused by continuous threats from the accused.
