Several areas across Gurugram reported power outages lasting up to five hours following heavy rain early Saturday, with residents in several residential and high-rise localities alleging that electricity supply was not restored for hours, while discom officials attributed the disruptions to feeder faults, damaged power lines, broken poles, transformers and trees and branches falling on overhead lines.
Taking to social media, residents said the outages began soon after it started raining around 12.30am in different parts of the city. Brij Kishore Singh, a Sector 103 resident, said post-rain power outages had become the new normal in sectors along the Dwarka expressway.
Several hours of heavy rain caused faults in feeders in several areas, besides sparking, broken poles, and trees and branches damaging power lines, resulting in outages across several areas, according to discom officials.
Supply was restored only after 6am. The government should investigate why the DHBVN infrastructure fails every time it rains. It seems there is no proper maintenance. “Several societies in Sector 103 and neighbouring areas suffered a long power outage starting at 1am. Urmila Mattu, a resident of Sushant Lok III in Sector 57, said the outage started at 12.30pm and the power supply could not be restored even after 5am.
