A wildfire called the Hawk Fire broke out near Somersett in the foothills of northwest Reno on Saturday, prompting evacuation orders for nearby areas.

The fire has grown from just a few acres when it started to now cover a much larger area. The fire is burning near the Peavine area of Reno. Residents can check the map and evacuation updates here .
The fire started around 11:30am on Saturday, off the Hawk Meadow Trail, about one mile north of Cold Creek Trail in Somersett, according to Watch Duty.
Truckee Meadows Fire Protection and the US Forest Service are in unified command, according to RGJ.
