In the first incident, Manju, 37, a resident of Shiva Enclave Society near Joshi Farm, was buying vegetables from a street vendor near Highland Park on Bhabat Road, Zirakpur, around 6.20pm on Thursday when two men on a motorcycle allegedly approached her. One of them, whom she described as a turbaned man, allegedly pulled her gold chain, weighing around 1.5 tolas, before fleeing with his accomplice. A case under Sections 304 (2) (snatching) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against unidentified persons. In the second incident, Sumitra, 26, a cook from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, was returning from work near Kulwant Hotel in Balongi around 4.45pm on Tuesday when two men allegedly intercepted her. A case has been registered under Sections 304 (snatching), 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS.
