IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe’s strict action against food adulteration and unsafe food practices has sparked a wider conversation around food safety and public health in Maharashtra. Mundhe, who heads the state’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has been leading a crackdown on establishments found violating food safety norms, including action against adulterated food, unhygienic practices and businesses that put consumers’ health at risk. His approach has attracted attention for its stringent enforcement and has also found support among several public figures who believe that stronger action is needed to ensure the food reaching people is safe.

Actor Daisy Shah who was recently seen on Alliance is the latest celebrity to voice her support for Mundhe’s efforts, stressing that protecting the quality of the food people consume is about much more than routine administration.
