What the latest development means: Heavy showers to continue in Himachal till August 19: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has predicted heavy rainfall to continue in Himachal Pradesh till August 19 and issued alerts for several districts during this period.

For August 14, the weather office has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mandi and Sirmaur districts, while a yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued in Una, Bilaspur, Chamba and Kangra. The department has issued a yellow alert for August 15 in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Sirmaur, followed by similar alerts for Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur on August 16. An orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been issued for August 17 in Bilaspur, Kangra, and Sirmaur districts. During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain at isolated places was observed over the state. The highest rainfall of 22mm was recorded in Rohru, followed by Khadrala (17mm), Kasauli (12mm), Kukumseri (4.2mm), Sarahan (2.1mm), Kothi (2mm), Palampur (1.4mm) and Jubberhatti (0.4mm).

On Thursday, rainfall was observed in few parts of the state including Dharamshala, Mandi and Bilaspur.
