A truck driver from Kaithal was allegedly assaulted and robbed of ₹ 30,000 by two unidentified youths near New Shivalik Hotel in Pinjore in the early hours of Thursday, following which Pinjore police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police received information about the alleged snatching and reached the spot. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and the white vehicle allegedly used by the suspects. He said he had received ₹ 55,000 in cash as freight, out of which he transferred ₹ 2,000 to his family and spent some of the money, leaving around ₹ 30,000 with him. At around 1.30 am, they stopped near a roadside eatery close to New Shivalik Hotel to have food. A case was registered under Section 304 (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Complainant Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Mator village in Kaithal district, was travelling in his Ashok Leyland vehicle after unloading a consignment in Malerkotla, according to an FIR registered at Pinjore police station. Kumar told police that he and his conductor, Ajay, were on their way to the Pinjore apple market to load the vehicle.
