Along with the woman, he was then paraded through the village in Jalaun ’s Kalpi area on Wednesday, police said. A man allegedly hid inside a box in a widow’s room for three days before being discovered and beaten by villagers.
How events unfolded
The man, a resident of the Kuthaund police station area, was allegedly staying in contact with the widow and had been hiding in the box during the day, coming out at night. They then paraded him and the woman through the village. A video of the incident has since circulated on social media. No complaint has been filed by the woman so far.
The two are related by marriage, according to the police and accounts of locals. SHO Kalpi Kotwali Ajay Brahm Tiwari said that the police were examining the matter and would take legal action if a complaint was received.
