At least 10 militants killed by security forces in northwest Pakistan

Security forces killed 10 militants and injured 16 others in multiple intelligence-based operations in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).

Search and clearance operations were continuing in the area, police added. Security forces launched the operations in Bannu district on Wednesday (August 12, 2026) following intelligence reports and continuous surveillance of militants’ movements and hideouts, police said.

Police said drones were used during Wednesday’s operations to target militants hiding at different locations. The militants had allegedly been using an Islamic seminary as a hideout, according to police. During subsequent operations, militants hiding under trees and those travelling on motorcycles were also targeted using quadcopters, police said. Several hideouts have been destroyed, and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition were recovered during Wednesday’s operations, police said.

The premises were evacuated before the operation to ensure the safety of civilians, following which security forces targeted militants inside after coming under fire.
