After reaching out to Gen-Z in Mumbai, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to engage with students and young people in Nagpur on Independence Day, seen as an effort to strengthen the saffron organisation’s connect with the younger generation.
Political Context
The RSS chief’s outreach to Gen-Z comes against the backdrop of growing political engagement among young people and recent student-led protests on issues concerning the government. Other senior RSS leaders are also expected to hold similar interactions with students and the younger generation from time to time. Bhagwat will interact with youth at a programme organised by a local media house at Kasturchand Park in Civil Lines on August 15. He is also scheduled to hoist the national flag at 9.30am at the venue, where chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a 200-foot-high national flag installed by the Lokmat Media Group in March this year.
People familiar with the matter said Bhagwat’s interaction with young people will be part of a wider effort to understand their aspirations, concerns and expectations. The organisers said the programme will highlight the growing role of Hindu Americans in public life and their contributions to education, healthcare, business, public service, philanthropy and civic engagement. The theme of the gathering is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—“The World Is One Family.”
