After more than seven month on run, the Toronto Police on Friday arrested 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori for allegedly murdering his partner, Himanshi Khurana, a 30-year-old Indian-origin woman, in Canada.

Khurana’s death was classified as a homicide, after which the service’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation. A CBC News report soon after the murder had said that the police suspected the case to be an “act of intimate partner violence”.

The Toronto Police said that Ghafoori has been charged with first degree murder and that victim and the accused were ‘known to each other’. He was arrested from an airport in Toronto, according to police sources quoted by CBC News.

Khurana was found dead inside a residence on December 20, 2025 after she went missing, the police said. The police were on a hunt to nab Ghafoori, the prime accused in the case.
