Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) said they targeted a US Patriot air defence system, late on Monday night, in Riffa, Bahrain, in a missile and drone attack, marking another escalation in the widening conflict.

The claim came as the US intensified its military campaign against Iran, executing and completing a 10th consecutive night of strikes after President Donald Trump vowed Tehran “will pay” for the killing of three American soldiers.
The Pentagon said the latest strikes were aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and followed Iran’s attacks on US allies Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.
The British military said a commercial tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman early Tuesday, in the latest assault on shipping through the strategic waterway.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the vessel reported over radio that it had been struck by an unidentified projectile. The attack came after two other ships were targeted in the strait over the previous 24 hours, with Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard claiming responsibility for those assaults, raising fresh concerns over maritime security in one of the world’s busiest oil transit routes.
