London’s Metropolitan Police believe “many more” women may come forward with accusations against Russell Brand, as the disgraced comedian spent Friday (November 6, 2026) in jail braced for his sentencing for rape and sexual assault.
Brand, 51, was found guilty of rape and three sexual assaults against four women on Thursday (November 5, 2026) following a high-profile trial, in which he was cleared of two other alleged rapes and one count of attempted indecent assault against two other women. The comedian and Hollywood actor, who became a household name across Britain in the 2000s, also faces accusations of raping two other women, including a 16-year-old schoolgirl, which the Metropolitan Police is probing.
He was remanded in custody and told by the judge he faced a “significant custodial term” at his sentencing on Monday (November 9, 2026). “There’s two more cases we’re investigating at the moment,” Met police chief Mark Rowley told the BBC . “I clearly wouldn’t be surprised if many more came forward.”
The companies have come under pressure in recent years — including in the wake of a 2023 joint investigation by Channel 4 and the Times into abuse allegations — for allowing a culture of impunity and even encouraging Brand’s behaviour.
